22 2. THE ABSOLUTE SUPERLATIVE: no es una comparación. Es un adjetivo. Es el sinónimo de muy; sumamente; extremadamente. Ejm. El es sumamente alto = él es altísimo (he is very tall) (extremely, awfully tall) Ellos son sumamente altos = ellos son altísimos Ella es sumamente alta = ella es altísima Ellas son sumamente altas = ellas son altísimas ** muy grande = grandísimo, -a, -os, -as ** extremadamente fácil = facilísimo, -a, -os, -as Ojo Ojo Ojo.!! Algunos adjetivos tienen que cambiar su deletreo para mantener el sonido original **largo = larguísimo. Muy ciego=cieguísimo **feliz = felicísimo. Muy audaz=audacísimo **poco = poquísimo. Muy loco=loquísimo 22
23 3. Expresiones idiomáticas. a. (the more...the more...) (the less...the less...) Cuanto más practiques, mejor hablarás. Cuantos más goles marcas, más popular eres en la escuela. b. ONLY. Más que COMPARA: Tengo más de 25 dólares (MORE THAN), así que puedo ir al cine y a cenar. Tengo más que (only) 25 dólares; no creo que tenga bastante dinero para el cine y para la cena. (= tengo sólo 25 dólares) **también podemos decir- tengo sólo (con acento) 25 dolares/tengo solamente 25 dólares. (solo sin acento > alone- Me quedé solo en casa el sábado pasado. c. as soon as possible= lo más pronto posible. 23
