2 1) Irregular Verbs. Spanish Verbs are considered irregular if there is a change in the STEM when they are conjugated. Each verb conjugation has its own set of endings that are added to the verb stem. The NOSOTROS y VOSOTROS FORMS are unaffected by the stem change in the present tense. -Ir Verbs Irregular verbs that ends in ir have three possible changes in their stem. The endings are the same as those you have learned for the regular verbs: Add o, -es, -e, -imos, -is, -en to the stem. The verb GUSTAR is used to mean to like, but really means to be pleasing to. Te gusta and te gustan. Te is the indirect object pronoun that means to you. When you use te, you are speaking in the familiar tu form. If the subject of the sentence is a singular noun or a verb, use GUSTA. You like this book. Te gusta este libro. You like to travel. Te gusta viajar. If the subject is a plural noun, use GUSTAN.

4 You like the books. Te gustan los libros. If the sentence is negative, place NO before the indirect object. You don t like the books. No te gustan los libros. Le gusta y le gustan. Le is the indirect object pronoun that means to him (a el), to her (a ella), or to you (a Ud.). If the subject of the sentence is a singular noun or a verb, use GUSTA. He likes this book. A él le gusta este libro. (This book is pleasing to him). She likes to travel. A ella le gusta viajar. (Traveling is pleasing to her). You like this book. A Ud. le gusta este libro. (This book is pleasing to you). Anna likes this book. A Anna le gusta este libro. (Este libro is pleasing to Anna). The man likes to cook. Al hombre le gusta cocinar. (To cook is pleasing to the man). If the subject is a plural noun, use GUSTAN. He likes the books. A él le gustan los libros. (Books are pleasing to him). She likes the books. A ella le gustan los libros. (Books are pleasing to her). You like the books. A Ud. Le gustan los libros. (Books are pleasing to you). Nos gusta y nos gustan. Nos is the indirect object pronoun that means to us. We like to speak Spanish. A nosotros nos gusta hablar español. (To us is pleasing to speak Spanish). We like chocolate cake. Nos gusta la torta de chocolate. (Chocolate cake is pleasing to us). We like our teachers. Nos gustan nuestros maestros. (Our teachers are pleasing to us). Les gusta y les gustan. Les is the indirect object pronoun that means to them (a ellos, a ellas) and to you (a Uds). They like the film. Les gusta la película. (To them is pleasing the film). They like the film.
